The Folklore Museum of Afytos, one of the most interesting folklore museums in Chalkidiki, offers the opportunity to discover the culture and daily life of the locals. It is housed in a preserved building from 1889, located in the central square of the village, donated by the Aletras family. The exhibition includes various folk items such as household tools, agricultural tools (for plowing, sowing, harvesting, and gathering), and ceramics, which were collected through the initiative of artist Nikos Paralis and donated by the residents of Afytos.
On the ground floor of the building, you will find a lending library with a wide variety of books and an exhibition space that hosts several of the village associations’ events. In the exterior space of the building, you will surely be drawn to the intricately painted cheese tins, transformed into flower pots by volunteers.
